SCAFA, Dubai's best cooking school, has won the prestigious Best Educational Establishment Award. SCAFA is a proud DMCC Member and the award is a testament of SCAFA's continuing commitment to ensuring the delivery of quality culinary education.
Pro Chef Training Award :
Our Academic Director, Chef Francisco Araya, was awarded the Pro Chef Middle East 2013 Training Champion of the Year. The Pro Chef Middle East Fine Dining Awards is an awards show representative of the Food and Beverage industry here in the Middle East, with over 2,200 individuals participating and nominating their peers in over 60 categories.
Merci Chef :
Merci Chef, a premier brand that produces quality French cheeses, announced their very first Merci Chef Awards in 2014. Our professional students, Roya Tarzaban and Kriti Vaswani, won first and third place respectively in the Merci Chef Awards 2015, for the U.A.E. Roya is now competing with participants from countries such as Spain, Germany and Poland for the top Merci Chef Award of 2015.
WhatsOn! ME 2013 Black Hat Guide – SCAFÉ awarded a two Hat Rating :
The Black Hat Guide is the UAE’s first fully rated restaurant guide from the region’s best-selling entertainment magazine, What’s On, which covers over 1200 eateries across the country. Scafe, SCAFA’s own teaching restaurant, has been awarded the Black Hat Guide’s Two Hat Rating for two years running, a testimonial to our restaurants continuing excellent service.
Caterer Middle East Top 50 Influencers :
Our Academic Director, Chef Francisco Araya, was named as Caterer Middle East’s Top 50 influencers. Caterer Middle East is a dedicated food & beverage management magazine delivering news, culinary trends and product reviews for the Middle East's fast growing catering industry, with the Caterer Middle East Top 50 Influencers listing out the region’s most influential professionals in the hospitality industry.
Professional Student Placement :
Rahul Ramnani, a graduate of our Professional Finishing Program, was offered a placement in NOMA, which was awarded the Best Restaurant award for three consecutive years by Restaurant magazine. Marc Brown, a professional student who had completed the Professional Kitchen and Professional Finishing Program, was also offered a placement with NOMA in 2015.
Future Chef Competition :
SCAFA students, Haile Amanuel and Polly Smith, participated in the Future Chef hosted by Masterchef competition, taking 2nd and 3rd places respectively. Held in the Conrad Hotel’s Marco Pierre White Grill. Organized by the Australian Trade Commission, the event brought together two future chefs from all of the culinary schools across the country. With Emirates Academy taking 1st and 4th positions, SCAFA’s Haile and Polly did themselves and SCAFA proud with the 2nd and 3rd positions.
